Wix store suspended in Merchant Center? Fix it from your Wix dashboard

Wix connects your store to Google in a few clicks, so it's easy to send Google a site that still has template text, policies only at checkout, or contact details nobody can see. These are the common Wix problems, and where to fix each one.

The short version
  • Common causes on Wix stores are template text left on the site, policies that only appear at checkout, and contact details missing from the pages themselves.
  • Most fixes are in your Wix dashboard and the Editor, so you rarely need a developer.
  • Products reach Google through Wix's Google & YouTube app, so fix the data in Wix and let it sync.
  • Once fixed, request the review in Merchant Center, and remember to Publish your site after every change.

Why Wix stores get suspended

Google applies the same rules to every store. But the way Wix stores are usually set up leads to the same handful of problems:

01

Template text still on the site

Wix templates come with sample text, images and sections. Google warns against placeholder text, and reviewers notice copy that clearly isn't about your business.

What can raise concerns"I'm a paragraph. Click here to add your own text" in a footer or About section.
What worksEvery section rewritten for your business, or deleted.
02

Policies only at checkout

Wix lets you add policies to the checkout page. That's useful, but reviewers also look for them on the site before anyone buys.

What can raise concernsReturns explained only in a checkout pop-up.
What worksRefunds, Delivery, Privacy and Terms pages, linked from the footer.
03

Contact details nobody can see

Filling in Business Info in the dashboard doesn't by itself put your details on every page. Many Wix sites rely on a contact form.

What can raise concernsA form and nothing else.
What worksBusiness name, address, phone and email on the Contact page and in the footer.
04

Changes saved but not published

In the Wix Editor, Save keeps your changes but doesn't make them live. Google only sees the published site.

What can raise concernsFixes made in the Editor, never published.
What worksPublish clicked after every change.
05

Free site or no paid plan

Wix requires a plan that accepts payments before customers can order, and free sites use a Wix address. Google expects a working checkout on a domain you own.

What can raise concernsyourname.wixsite.com with no way to pay.
What worksYour own domain, on a plan that takes payments.
06

Prices that don't match Google

Sale prices, currency settings or options that differ between the product page and what's sent to Google.

What can raise concerns£18 on the page, £16 in Merchant Center.
What worksOne price in your store currency, set in Wix and synced.
07

Shipping out of step

Delivery regions and rates in Wix, your delivery page and Merchant Center that don't agree.

What can raise concernsFree delivery over £40 on the site, a flat £3.95 in Merchant Center.
What worksThe same costs and times in all three places.
08

No meta description

By default, a Wix homepage's meta description is blank, so Google has to guess how to describe your shop.

What can raise concernsA blank description, or the template's.
What worksA short, accurate description of what you sell.

Fix the source, not the feed

The Google & YouTube app sends your Wix product data to Merchant Center. If a price or description is wrong, change it in Wix and let it sync, rather than editing it in Merchant Center, where it can be overwritten.

Use the app's checklist

Google & YouTube lists the basics Google expects before you start: a payment option that accepts credit card payments, shipping rates, no password on product pages, at least two of phone, email or address, and terms and a refund policy. Work through it first.

Step-by-step fix for Wix

  1. 1

    Find the issue

In your Wix dashboard, open Google & YouTube to see disapproved products and Google's reasons. In Merchant Center, check the account issue and note the policy named.

  2. 2

    Complete your business info

In Dashboard, Business Info, add your business name, address, phone and email. Then add them to your Contact page and footer in the Editor so shoppers can see them.

  3. 3

    Publish real policies

Create pages for refunds and returns, delivery, privacy and terms with your real return window, costs and times. Add your policies at checkout too, in Dashboard, Checkout settings, Policies.

  4. 4

Link the policies in your footer

In the Editor, select the footer and add text links to each policy page and the Contact page.

  5. 5

    Remove template text and claims

Go through every page and replace or delete sample text, images, reviews and sections. Remove claims you can't back up, such as "best in the UK" or health benefits.

  6. 6

    Check prices, currency and delivery

Open a few products and compare the page with Merchant Center. Check your currency in Settings, Language & Region, and that your shipping regions match your delivery page.

  7. 7

Publish, scan, then request a review

Click Publish. Run a free scan to check for anything you've missed, then request a review in Merchant Center. The full report gives Wix steps for the issues it finds.

What a checklist can't catchMany of these sit in your page code, structured data or settings Google reads but shoppers never see, so they're easy to miss by eye. Any one of them can be enough for a review to fail.
  • Template text hidden in a footer, strip or lightbox you rarely look at
  • Policies that appear at checkout but nowhere on the site
  • Star ratings or demo reviews from a template or reviews app
  • Currency mismatches between your product data and storefront
  • Missing brand or barcode (GTIN) in your product data
  • Policy text copied from another store, still naming their business
  • Delivery times that differ between product pages, the FAQ and your delivery page
  • Tracking pixels running without cookie consent
  • Changes saved in the Editor but never published
  • Dropshipping warning signs that can raise concerns

Common questions

No. Google applies the same rules to every store. But Wix templates and default settings make some problems common, such as leftover template text and policies that only appear at checkout.

In Merchant Center. Wix's Google & YouTube app shows product status and Google's reasons, but account reviews are requested in Merchant Center. If you set up through Wix, you can add your own Google account in the app's settings to get direct access to Merchant Center.

Not really. Wix requires a plan that accepts payments before customers can place orders, and Google expects a working checkout on a domain you own. Upgrade and connect your own domain first.

It's better to have them on the site too. Reviewers look for refund, delivery, privacy and terms information before anyone buys, so create policy pages and link them from your footer.

Usually not. Almost everything in this guide can be changed in your Wix dashboard and the Editor. Just remember to Publish.
